Episode 19

listen now

We're joined by South-Africa's infosec powerhouse Haroon Meer to discuss various topics, from infosec in general over starting your own company to organizing an infosec conference from scratch. He's done it all. Wicked Clown is back for the news so all we're looking for now is a weather girl (Chris has volunteered to play this part ad interim).

Our Guest

Haroon Meer is our honoured guest of the month. Haroon is an industry veteran, known from his work at Sensepost, speaking at various conferences, co-founding Zacon (a South-African infosec conference) and has recently started his own company with Thinkst.

News Stories

HBGary hack, explained. Anonymous what a bunch of nice chaps (don’t want to upset these guys!) I think this article is more damaging to HBGary than the attack itself as it shows how easy it was. It shows how a good pentest should be conducted.. well, at least have the consent of the company first :) http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2011/02/anonymous-speaks-the-inside-story-of-the-hbgary-hack.ars/

But if you compare the HBGary attack to the ‘Night Dragon’ it’s petty much the same. http://www.mcafee.com/us/resources/white-papers/wp-global-energy-cyberattacks-night-dragon.pdf http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-12416580

What free star bucks?? :) Another reason 1) Not to leave you phone unattended as I may change you language from English to Russian and 2) Not to trust technology with your money!! http://www.mobilecommercedaily.com/2011/02/09/how-to-compromise-the-starbucks-rewards-card-app-in-90-seconds

Hardware keyloggers found in a Manchester Library. LMAO! it’s a good way to explain to the wife why there is a subscription to ‘hot MILFs’ on your credit card.. they must of got my credit card details while I was at the library. And why where you at the library, I was looking at free porn :) http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/news/s/1407644_cybercrime_alert_after_bugs_found_in_library_computers
