FIRST 2011 TICKET CHALLENGE
The kind people over at the 23rd annual FIRST conference have been generous enough to give us a ticket to the upcoming FIRST conference in Vienna, Austria. In order to tay your detective skills, our resident "funny accent" Wim Remes has come up with a suitable OSINT challenge for you...
23rd Annual FIRST conference - Vienna, Austria
The Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST) is a global non-profit organization dedicated to bringing together computer security incident response teams (CSIRTs) and includes response teams from over 214 corporations, government bodies, universities and other institutions spread across the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania. The annual FIRST conference provides a setting for conference participants to attend a wide range of presentations delivered by leading experts in both the CSIRT field and from the global security community.
The conference is being held at the Hilton Vienna, Austria, 12-17 June 2011
The Details
OSINT, Social Engineering, social networking, identity theft ... they are all terms that have jumped to the forefront of the news in 2010. How easy is it to find personal information of a person you barely know? Are you as good in this stuff as you believe you are ? Well, if you are ... you can win an entrance ticket to FIRST 2011 in Vienna!
What's the deal? Wim Remes of the Eurotrash Information Security podcast (also known as @wimremes on twitter) has a cell phone number. It is your task to find that number, call him and mention the site where you found it. Note that there is only one specific site that qualifies for the ticket. You do not need to befriend Wim on any social network site or social engineer him to give you the information. The site you are looking for is publicly available and NOT owned by any of us, neither was the information put there specifically for this challenge. So, fire up your search engines and find Wim's cellphone number, call him and give him the site name to be in with a chance to win the ticket.
NOTE: The number is not on slideshare... we have become aware of an old number on slideshare, that is no longer in Wim's posession. You have been warned ;)
If you succeed, your name will be put into the hat with the chance to win a ticket to attend the FIRST conference in June.
The Fine Print
The personal calling must provide Wim with his name and contact details for the winning ticket. This ticket is non-transferable, non-refundable, and includes only entry to the conference (all travel, hotel and other expenses are the responsibility of the winner). If the winner is unable to attend the conference he/she needs to contact us to make us aware, and so that another drawing can be made (we cannot simply transfer the ticket). This is only fair after all!
Please ensure that you contact Wim only between the hours of 07:00 and 23:00 (Central European Time). If your call is not answered, please text your name, email address and the site where you found the details to ensure your place is registered.
Only one entry per person is permitted! The answer should not be shared privately or publicly... if the answer is shared, the person sharing the answer will be removed from the competition (and we'll be rather annoyed).
The deadline for entry is April 17th, 2011 - 23:00 (Central European Time). After this point,no entries will be accepted, and Wim will probably be annoyed at you for calling.... nerd rage isn't a pretty thing!
Have fun.... play nice! and the winner will be announced on the next show and via our Twitter feed!
